From the release notes for Linux Lite 6.0

There is no upgrade path from Series to Series.

So I looked in the forum and found a way to update from one series to another and did that.

For all intense and purposes it worked except for this one program I've posted about.

A system that can't apply updates might be considered to be fundamentally broken.

You could certainly give it a go but the system would still be an unsupported hybrid installation in which other problems may be waiting.
An alternative solution might be to resolve the issue that is preventing a fresh install.
