2 mb for grub bios is for a GPT partitioning.
I've tried with a HDD - Seagate Barracuda with a MBR partitioning and worked like charm.
Then I've checked the SSD drive for errors and passed all the way.
So, I'm really confused with a lot of "why"s in my mind.

Try the MRB with the SSD... (Legacy BIOS) it will probably work..
If wanting GPT/UEFI - try the UEFI build, I would highly suggest - its not so much a test OS like the Beta/Pre-releases. It is stable..
