Simple to use Anti Virus frontend for Linux
#14
I have been using sophos for sometime and it does not slow my system down at all. It runs in the background and you can do scans anytime you want. Unlike Clam it actually prevents maleware before it gets into your system. Clam from what I have read a little while ago was taken over by some corporate outfit whose name escapes me at the moment and is not considered quite as good as it used to be due to neglected interest in maintenance. Not my opinion, just information I read online.
Once Sophos is installed if you update it by following the below instructionsopen a terminal and type sudo su & enter your passwordthen type /opt/sophos-av/bin/savupdateThis can take a few mins to complete so be patient- after that is completed drop root elevation by typing exitThen do a full scan by typing the below into the terminalsudo savscan -archive -suspicious -pua -remove /

If anyone is interested I will repost the video instructions to install via terminal which I had posted here some time ago. Only takes a few minutes to install and teh you might want to update. Cheers.
