ran your suggestion and got this on synaptic screen
E: dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'dpkg --configure -a' to correct the problem.
E: _cache->open() failed, please report.
also somehow my Fn key has become locked on. i am getting numbers instead of letters unless i depress while typing. Again this was not happening when I originally installed 32 bit with standard kernel.
Not sure what I have done?? Strange
keyboard settings unchanged from first setup - Fuitsu amilo Numbers lock on restart unticked Language English (UK)
