Proxy settings

Thanks for those suggestions @gold_finger, there is some very useful information there.  My problem is that my particular "salt-mine" does not use a proxy server in the form "http://fqdn:port", but an auto configuration script in the form "http://fqdn/filename".  This ensures that a viable  proxy server is always selected regardless of any nefarious network activities that may be going on.

I guess I'll have to try some of the GUI tools suggested to see if they support that.

hope it's alright, and i would like to know if you're able to used some of Linux Lite GUI tools to find proxy settings?  :-\
