Proxy settings - essenby - 12-03-2014 Hi, Not sure if this is the right place for this and I apologise it this should be under Networks, but is it possible to set a system-wide proxy in LinuxLite, and if so - how? I would like to use my laptop from my work location which uses a proxy server. Whilst I can set the proxy correctly in Firefox, I cannot for example update any software because the system cannot find the repository. Regards, Re: Proxy settings - N4RPS - 12-09-2014 Hello! Since no one has replied to this in several days, I'll take a shot at it: Have you tried setting up a proxy connection in Menu > Settings > Network Connections? Re: Proxy settings - gold_finger - 12-09-2014 I don't know anything about this myself, but did a quick search and found this: http://askubuntu.com/questions/150210/how-do-i-set-systemwide-proxy-servers-in-xubuntu-lubuntu-or-ubuntu-studio If that doesn't help use Linux Beginner Search Engine and enter "set system proxy settings" (or similar) into search bar. Re: Proxy settings - essenby - 12-09-2014 Thanks for those suggestions @gold_finger, there is some very useful information there. My problem is that my particular "salt-mine" does not use a proxy server in the form "http://fqdn:port", but an auto configuration script in the form "http://fqdn/filename". This ensures that a viable proxy server is always selected regardless of any nefarious network activities that may be going on. I guess I'll have to try some of the GUI tools suggested to see if they support that.
