Adobe Flash Player
#1
Hi everyone! Hope you're all having a nice life! Smile

I just updated & upgraded LL and noticed that adobe flash player got installed, why is that? Chromium doesn't support it anymore so there's no point in using it.

I know that but even so chromium refuses to use it and why did it get installed in the first place? Now I'll have to remove a package I didn't intend to install, not a big deal, but still...guess is an Ubuntu thing. Thanks for the reply.

There's no need for Ubuntu to get rid of adobe flash from the repos until after 31st. As for your particular case, it may have been pulled in as a dependency. Logs will show you this. For more info, please read the 5.2 release in these Forums for how to handle flash manually. Pleased mark the thread as Solved.

I don't think flash was in the original package.  On my 5.2 machine, it looks like flashplugin-installer first got installed as part of a routine update I ran first thing on 2020-12-09.

I didn't notice it at the time and purged it on December 18 having read Moltke's post.
