#1
Hi , So its lockdown in the UK with a different virus .. Not computerfied .. CoVid 19 .. and time on my hands , so looking around my man cave so looky there ..har ..har .. a Compaq N610c lappy , Pentium 4 ..1.6 ghz , 766 mb memory ... well fancy that not seen you for several years .. ...a visit to EB and a Linux Lite disc a few days later .. here I am no stranger to Linux though ... years ago Bodhi and Crunchbang where my favourites ,, sadly not here or supported in thier past glory .So I installed  Lite32bit V2.0 .. no problems ..... but  ???
...
just could anybody recommend a lightweight browser that the system will like , FF is on which I updated  ...mmm ok but I would like a lighter feel about the browser .. I downloaded slimjet but it would not work and the installed browser versions in Lite will not install either Chrome / Chromium ... still playing with things ..

I like Lite ... stay safe all ... keep yer 2 metre distance ... good luck Smile

You might get by with Lite 3.x, but with those specs something like Puppy Linux might be better. Or maybe Lubuntu. But even there you would need older versions. Which gets into whether or not it's still supported.

I had to go back to Lite 3.8 when my video card died, and I was forced back onto on-board graphics. I researched and experimented, and found that I needed to use Ubuntu-16 based systems. However, most of them are no longer fully supported. Linux Lite is a pleasant exception, and the best thing for older systems. Unless you need something even lighter. I tried Bodhi, and it worked, but was just not intuitive enough for me. Puppy Linux is actually very impressive. I suggest you check it out.

Best of luck (and health!).

Heya!

Try PaleMoon for a browser. One page at a time though.
I heard of Epiphany is on Bodhi now, maybe worth a look.
I like Midori, but it just crashes all the time and its old.

Keep us posted... I don't have a computer THAT old Wink
