can't mount file /home partition
#1
Hello everyone,

I'm a linux newbie, and I have just installed Linux Lite on my netbook.
I have a 250 Gb hard drive, and I tried to keep my data on a /home partition (150gb) that I can't get access too. Linux Lite is installed on anotherĀ  partition (60 Gb) .

I've tried mounting and unmounting the partition using the command line, but always get a message that the partition can't be mounted, /home is busy, ...

Is there anyway to get access to it without losing any data? Please help ..

How can I recover from this situation?

1) use a live-USB version 3.6 or 3.8 (but in no case LL 4.0 beta since it can't mount neither other devices nor the former old file system);

2) save all your important files from your home directory (your son's homework and so on) to another USB stick;[/quote]
