My LiLi with Persistence stops trying to run an incorrect Display Adaptor driver

I'm posting this in this forum because I regard it part of Installing Linux.
After successfully installing and updating LiLi 3.8, I did a Set a Restore Point using the Welcome menu, after I installed all the Updates.

The next thing I did was configure my Ethernet & Wireless LAN and my Brother Printer. Both worked fine.

Then I thought I would install the only Update Drivers---listed Display Driver for my Nvida laptop Display Adaptor. It said it was tested--not sure what that means!
Now when it boots, I get to the Yellow background with the feather, then the screen goes black and after maybe 15seconds, a screen pops up that says the Nvida driver is not registered and I should change the driver kernel. And it sits there--never getting into Linux.

I tied to use the Safe Mode, but I did fiddle with adding a new Username & Password. linux is the default username, but I don't know the default password. An Enter does not work, LiLi does not work, Linux does not work. Even if I could get to Linux with safe mode (I assume it uses the basic display driver), would I be able to restore the system from  my Backup using Systemback, or do I need to use one compatible with the Welcome screen.

Would someone please post, or PM me with the new install default password?

in the manual it says to type Login as linux, then click Login button (no password required).

Are you kidding? It's impossible to install Linux without existing Ethernet & Wireless LAN! Everything works out-of-the-box in any Linux. Strange enough you had to reconfigure your Wi-Fi and printer.

I guess you were just unlucky. I had the reverse experience with multiple machines. Not having WiFi on other distros but worked in LiLi 3.x.
Also, I never had a machine yet (cross fingers) where the ethernet did not work in a live boot or on first install (no updates).

I found your way to called Linux Lite "LiLi" even friendlyer. I'm addopting it.

NN--AS you mentioned--There is NO WAY for me to Install Updates without connecting to the Internet---I never said I installed with NO connection! I had no problems connecting via WiFi to my router, but my Ethernet would not connect. I used the WiFi to Install Updates. I had to download the drivers. I reconfigured Ethernet (and WiFi) to use a static ady and then Ethernet worked. It already had the DHCP set--iow use the same network ady as the HP Laptop with W7 uses for both WiFi and Ethernet.  The Brother 2240D printer did not install automatically--I had to download the drivers. As mentioned--The Welcome has Update Drivers listed after Install Updates, and the top 2 drivers listed are from Nvida. Why would those be listed if I should not be installing them??? Hey I'm a noob here and just trying to follow directions.

bitsnpcs: I did not try to logon on with just the username showing and then press the Login button--I had pressed Enter for the Password and then Login--and as mentioned--that did not work.

The Dead: I saw LiLi elsewhere on this forum--I thought it was the standard abbreviation So I don't deserve any credit.

Today I can not get to the Login window by selecting Boot in Safe Mode. It stops after multiple failures to install. I'll have to start over and reinstall I guess. What a waste of time---

Linux non-free firmware blobs though provided by the OEMs freely are still their property and generally not editable and always subject to their proprietary control. Many modern machines and peripherals require non-free firmware.
