Welcome!

I think you'll find Linux Lite sweet, simple, and very fast on that machine!  And this community is very helpful as well.

A very warm welcome to the LL community forum, where no question is too basic to ask!
It's the ideal place to be if you want to learn a lot about Linux through LL. Enjoy the journey.

Interesting that you have a Windows OS backup too. Useful to do this as some tasks are unfortunately just too difficult to do with Linux, e.g. configuring a new router, etc.

Regards
Mike
64bit OS (32-bit on Samsung[i] netbook) installed in [i]Legacy mode on MBR-formatted SSDs (except pi which uses a micro SDHC card):
2017 - Raspberry pi 3B (4cores) ~ [email protected] - LibreElec, used for upgrading our Samsung TV (excellent for the task)
2012 - Lenovo G580 2689 (2cores; 4threads] ~ [email protected] - LL3.8/Win8.1 dual-boot (LL working smoothly)
2011 - Samsung NP-N145 Plus (1core; 2threads) ~ Intel Atom [email protected] - LL 3.8 32-bit (64-bit too 'laggy')
2008 - Asus X71Q (2cores) ~ Intel [email protected] - LL4.6/Win8.1 dual-boot, LL works fine with kernel 4.15
2007 - Dell Latitude D630 (2cores) ~ Intel [email protected] - LL4.6, works well with kernel 4.4; 4.15 doesn't work

Hi Karen, Welcome!

Maybe one day, your husband will join you and come into the Lite! Wink
...and the drum goes, ba-dum-ching!

Also, if you have questions about getting the Windows beast running, I'm not sure there is an appropriate place in the Linux Lite forums but you guys can PM me. It's my job in the real world! :-P

Cheers!

Welcome to the forum, Karen.  Your PC is a good candidate for Lite!

I have a 10 year old HP Pavilion a6110n, that I upgraded to 8GB of RAM.  It has a different video card (only to handle two monitors) and a different power supply (to handle the different video card).  Other than that, the specs are the same as when I bought the PC.  Because it does have a hard drive, it's not the fastest booting machine I have, but once logged in, because of Linux Lite, I often forget that the PC is 10 years old.
