Linux Lite website has received some love
#1
This week I've been looking to make certain parts of the website easier to use, and to provide a better experience.

Mirrors Page:

ISO download mirrors are now in table format that includes the 'City'.

It's now much easier for new Mirror hosters to submit their Mirror information with the following form:

Hardware Database:

The Hardware Database now has an expand button so that the entire list doesn't load without showing.

Donors List Page

Is now Mobile friendly:

I would like to help with setting up a mirror for Linux Lite.

I went to the rsync url and it downloaded a LL 3.6 ISO

There was no instructions for setting up the Mirror.

Must be doing something wrong here....... :Smile :Smile :Smile :Smile :Smile

Sorry Jerry, you may have to babytalk me through this.

The plan was to use one of my computers on my home network to setup a LL mirror.

Should I download and install a Ubuntu Server ISO.......?

OK have installed Ubuntu 16.04 server to HDD on another machine.

There is a lot to learn here.

Mirrors are usually hosted from a Datacenter where there are safeguards like redundant power, enterprise level firewalls etc. People are relying on your service to be running 24/7
I certainly appreciate the sentiment. If you want to do this, here are some things to consider.

You will need:

- Advanced ability on the command line.
- Knowledge of managing GPG keys in the cli.
- An indepth knowledge of managing web servers, Apache, Nginx etc.
- Hire a VPS or dedicated server from an online host.

Food for thought Smile

I do not come up to this standard at present.

But I will keep the Ubuntu 16.04 server installed and try to learn more about it.

Thank you for your reply Jerry.
