No screen after update
#1
I just did some update this morning all got fine.
Restart pc and there  I do not get in the desktop screen.
What I read on the top of the black screen is this..
54.988947  kdump-tools[4296]: Starting kdump-tools: * loaded kdump kernel
how to fix that?
running 3.4

You crashed a kernel. What kind of updates?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linux_Term...er_Project

hold down the left shift key while booting to get a grub menu. select advanced options and boot an older kernel.

If your grub menu opens with the left shift key look under advanced options for an older kernel entry something older than 4.40-85 Generic. Do not use recovery mode otherwise kexec will continue to load the saved dump kernel (which in this case is probably a thin version 4.40-85) Boot from the line that reads something like Linux Lite... 4.40- (with the lowest number below 85) Generic. Hopefully you have a few older kernels listed there. If not there is little I can help you with, as you've probably followed the Ubuntu caution not to root password your system. In the future you should not remove old kernels before thoroughly testing the newly installed ones. If you get your system back up on an older kernel make sure you have not added any ppas that are not from Linux Lite, and then go through the update process again.

Well i have tried everything .NO luck.
So i have re-install 3.4 two times.
3.4 has kernel 4.4.0-70
update  after install and got 4.4.0.85

After i play some, with some programs,i re-install to day again the 3.4  with 4.4.0.70 kernel BUT when i update  i got no 4.4.0.85  got 4.4.0.86
Really i do not know what is the best of those 3 kernels to use .
I like to know before i install the ham-radio ax25 and Jnos. Any ham-radio op here know anything abt?

Thanks

I don't use ham-radio, I am using LL 3.2 and kernel 4.9, it works for me, there are more newer than 4.9.

Hello arxontas,

these threads are the help from the LL community I had for editing the grub and installing the kernel 4.9, when I had no screen showing.
