Repo's Error
#1
I have been trying to install chromium without success even after trying various download servers from software and updates...they return any errors after reloading. Attached log file and output from apt-get update which maybe some help.

E:Failed to fetch http://ubuntu.mirrors.uk2.net/ubuntu/dis...90887ca756  Hash Sum mismatch, E:Failed to fetch http://ubuntu.mirrors.uk2.net/ubuntu/dis...8a7368d191  , E:Some index files failed to download. They have been ignored, or old ones used instead

Many thanks

Ok I can't log this as solved......but I tried a clean install on another drive and this install works!! The only difference is I did not install any proprietary drivers I have left them as default....whether that has anything to do with it I don't know.....but chromium installs and I've set up Samba as per [member=6629]ralphy[/member] you tube and that works.
I did try this Compaq some time ago on another distro and had similar problems which could not be resolved after I had installed proprietary Nvidia drivers...hence it was relegated to cupboard space.
If this continues to 'play nice' it means I shall have to get a shelf above my desk and install synergy so that I can carry on using it  :Smile and the wife will say 'why do you 4 screens'......there's no answer to that  Wink

I would suggest using the Package System Repair utility as a first step in troubleshooting this error.

Ok  put the other HD back in tried that, came up with an error and to check the system log. Is that the syslog under var/logs?

Seems I managed to sort this out;

sudo apt clean
sudo rm -rf /var/lib/apt/lists/*
sudo apt update this returned 9 packages to upgrade and no errors so;
sudo apt upgrade

I then removed the Nvidia driver and went back to the Nouveau display driver

Then ran sudo apt autoremove
Then another sudo apt update

No errors......installed Chromium and no errors on the download or install....I would call that a result!!
