#1
One of Fuji Si1520s has gone to valhalla Sad

Need a tablet (hybrid?) 10.1 inch or bigger screen. Looking to see if I could convert one to LL and cut down apps.  also run more efficiently extend battery life etc etc..
Looking at ebay for used to try.
questions:-
a) is it possible to convert these to LL OS  only.
b) any ideas what make to aim for??
c) A gamble to try or not?

TIA

Hi,

I had looked at doing this, couple of challenges...
Most have limited BIOS options, none seem to allow "Legacy" so you will need to battle with a 32 bit UEFI

I have just done a LL2.8 64 bit install for a friend on a HP Stream 11, apart from a Bluetooth issue, it very usable.
Quick google:
HP Screen(1366x768) resolution vs Miix 300 ~ 1280 X 800
CPU fractionally better in HP Stream N3050 vs Z3735F
HP's got 2 full size USB , 1x USB2 2 & 1 x USB3 vs 1

Horses for Courses, but HP is 30 quid dearer.

TKS WF. It was really the ability to use as a tablet  (free from the bulk of attached keyboard) for most of the time - but with the typing option in emergencies etc.

Also , why did you choose  64bit LL over the 32 bit when there was only 2GB Ram fitted?? Intrigued.

Very simple, Not technical...
It's a 64 bit CPU and I already had a LL 64 bit boot stick to hand Smile Smile

Win10 was a bit of a dog, not fluid, folders slow. It took about an 2 hours to create a Win10 recovery USB stick.
With LL, pretty responsive, occasionally when moving through Chrome tabs the odd little jump in graphics, even with kernel 4.5.0
For day to day stuff its fine, Youtube seemed O.K, but more than a few hours on a tiny screen may get tiresome.
The regular size HDMI output works great at 1920/1080, the function key(F4) to switch display is recognised fine.

The only outstanding issue is the Bluetooth, it worked once with a BT Mouse, then failed to work after a re-boot.
Not a biggy, my friends not got a need for BT on it.

I have done some rudimentary tests with gtkperf, glxgears to measure CPU & Mem usage on 64 bit, will load LL 32 bit and repeat.
