Restore XFCE to default
#1
I want to restore XFCE back to default. I did this by deleting the XFCE folder in .config. I then logged out and back in and chose the default configuration. But then one of the panels are on the top and a launcher bar is at the bottom. How can i erase the bottom panel and move the one at top to the bottom.

OR

How can I install Mate on here. I have been a long time mate user.

Thanks!  Smile  ;D  8)

Hello, brettwiley. We don't support other DE's.
What little free time we do have, has to be supporting what we offer out-of-the-box. If you want to take Linux Lite and turn it into something else, that is something you'll have to research outside of our Support networks. Perhaps look for a tutorial on installing Mate on Ubuntu 12.04, it should be similar. Thank you.

Can't help with Mate, but you can add/delete/change panels and items on the panels by right-clicking on an empty area of the panel, choose -- Panel -> Panel Preferences -> Panel 1 or 2 -> "x" to delete it, or "+" to add a panel.  You can have a look through the tabs -- Display, Appearance, Items -- to customize it however you want.  To move a panel, look under Display tab and uncheck the "Lock panel" box; then grab by the left or right panel edge and move it.

Sorry for jumping in...
I was going to post a question on a similar topic...

I'm sure I wasn't dreaming,
I'm sure when I was exploring LinuxLite I found an option to select from a certain look, not a new DE, just some subtle changes
one I remember was Redmond... But I just can't find this option to change anywhere now..

Maybe it's related to the other issue I posted, and disappeared due to my language change.?

Any pointers welcome.

Thanks... David

Generally best to start new post vs. jumping in on someone else's; but we'll let you slide this time.  Wink

Menu -> Settings -> Appearance

Hello!

Although Search will find almost ANYTHING, it's mainly about keeping the information shared here organized in an orderly fashion.

This part of the thread may eventually be split off into a thread of its own in another area, but nonetheless, here's your answer: I believe that Menu > Settings > Appearance will allow you to select the Redmond theme...

Hi Rob,

Understood, and Thanks.
One of the challenges of the internet...
Taming knowledge, millions of articles/posts all disparate,
yet potentially many with a common root/answer/solution.

I love the Redmond theme. Things seem to be speedier with it.
