Note: This tutorial assumes that you already have a Microsoft Windows installation (XP or Above) fully functioning in Oracle VirtualBox. If you need a tutorial on how to setup a Microsoft Windows virtual machine, view the video listed in the Software Requirements section.
In this tutorial, we are going to setup and install iTunes within Windows to sync your Apple iDevice with Linux. This is useful if you have trouble getting your iDevice working with GTKPod within Linux.
The example device I will use to do this tutorial is a 7th Generation (Green) iPod Nano [2012 Version].
Software Requirements
Microsoft Windows Virtual Machine - If you do not have Windows setup in Oracle VirtualBox, view this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1DhwS4eZExU.
Oracle VirtualBox - Download and Install from http://www.virtualbox.org. Click on "Downloads" on the left side column, click on "Oracle VirtualBox for Linux Hosts" and choose the latest "Ubuntu" .DEB file option, in either 32-Bit (i386) or 64-Bit (AMD64).
Apple iTunes - This is the "official" software used to sync your Apple iDevice. You can download it directly from Apple here: http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/.
(Optional) Oracle VirtualBox Extension Pack - Download and install from https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads. This extension adds USB 2.0 support for faster transfer speeds, and better 3D acceleration support for graphics.
1. Start your Microsoft Windows Virtual Machine.
