Native Netflix coming to Linux

Hopefully within the next 2 weeks we will have native HTML5 support for Netflix in Linux Lite.

This is fantastic news as we currently have people install a wine wrapper to get it to work - that means lots of bloat on a 'lite' system Once the update hits the repo's I'll test and change the Netflix installer accordingly. Please note this will only work for the Chrome web browser so those that don't have it, the new script will install Chrome as a dependency and they will have to view Netfilx via Chrome.

Great, except for the Chrome part.  I use Firefox.  Any chance this will eventually work with FF?

The packages have gone to the repos, now we are just waiting for Netflix to add the user agent we we are good to go
It's currently working here with a user agent extension in Chrome, but we won't need that soon. I'll keep you all posted

Any reason I can't run Chrome AND Firefox with LL?  I don't think there are any issues with Windows but I've never tried it in Linux.  I guess that would be the easiest solution for us FF users, eh?

A bloat-free/reduced-bloat Netflix for LL2 will be a very welcome addition indeed, even if it requires Chrome or Chromium...

NEWS:

Netflix now works natively on Linux Lite via Chrome. Make sure you have run Install Updates.
Will wait for a few days to let this stabilize then we'll be changing the script and dumping the need for wine

It seems all is well with Netflix on Chrome.
It would seem that logically, there is no need for an installer for Netflix, and you are right in assuming so. We have kept this installer because there are other dependencies eg. libnss3 that some people may have removed. libnss3 is already available by default in LL. In the future once it is widely known that Netflix works on linux, we'll simply remove the installer altogether.

Important reminders:

This will only currently work in Chrome, there is no support for Firefox (untested in Chromium)
As a result the new Netflix installer will install the Google Chrome Web Browser.
If you already have Chrome installed, run Install Updates first, then go to http://www.netflix.com to start using Netflix, you do not need to use the installer.
If you want to go on using the existing Netflix installation, you are free to do so, but I recommend against it:
To remove the existing Netflix application do:
