Acer not installing 5.6
#1
I burned a dvd and I tried the install on my old Acer (32g) and it loaded the first screen. But I can't get it that far on my newer Acer. It is a Legacy. From what I read I should be downloading the Legacy or the UEFI version.Ok, I'm 76 and probably missing it but I can't find a download that states Legacy or UEFI?Help.
I've been running Lite for lot's of years and this is the first time I'm lost. And I did move the USB/CDRom to the top position. Thanks for the help.blessings

What type/model of Acer - 32g?
Legacy BIOS or UEFI is fine (either) but it has to be 64bit and not 32bit...

LL4.8 UEFI 64 bit ASUS E402W - AMD E2 (Quad) 1.5Ghz  - 4GB - AMD Mullins Radeon R2
LL5.8 UEFI 64 bit Test UEFI Kangaroo (Mobile Desktop) - Atom X5-Z8500 1.44Ghz - 2GB - Intel HD Graphics
LL4.8 64 bit HP 6005- AMD Phenom II X2 - 8GB - AMD/ATI RS880 (HD4200)
LL3.8 32 bit Dell Inspiron Mini - Atom N270 1.6Ghz - 1GB - Intel Mobile 945GSE Express  -- Shelved
BACK LL5.8 64 bit Dell Optiplex 160 (Thin) - Atom 230 1.6Ghz - 4GB-SiS 771/671 PCIE VGA - Print Server
Running Linux Lite since LL2.2

Neither UEFI or Legacy show up int the BIOS.

The newer one is an Aspire 15, 64bit. Mfg 2018.In the BIOS of the newer one, is LEGACY

I followed the old, "if at first you don't succeed" and found something that worked.  I had originally moved USB CDROM to the top and it didn't load.  So I then moved ATAPI CDROM: HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GUE1N to the top and it loaded.  I'm not geek enuf to know what happened but it did work.  I got a chance to look at 5.6 and it looks good.  I'll try actually loading it at a later date.  I feel awkward that I couldn't explain the problem in such a way that gave others a lead but......  :023:

keep at it.....amigo
