Cannot copy and paste search result files?
#1
Putting LL on a friends desktop computer. He gave me a 1Tb thumb drive with thousands of photos, vids and documents on it.
If I search the TD and put in .jpg it finds thousands of photos. If I high-lite the .jpgs it is not possible to right click and copy or cut these files.
Is there a way to copy these .jpg's and put them in the Photos files without having to do all the steps in the command function?

Sounds like this might be a permissions issue.  Sometimes (quite rarely) when I insert a USB drive it mounts as read only - I've not been able to work out quite what is going on when the system does this.

To check, try right clicking on a USB directory and select 'open as administrator', it might then allow you to manipulate the files.

Just tried using catfish on my home directory and see the same as you - so not a permissions issue.

Looks like catfish is for locating and opening files, not for relocating them.

Catfish is search only, it is not considered or classed as a file manager which is software where copy and paste will take place. You could try ask for it to be added as a feature here - https://docs.xfce.org/apps/catfish/bugs
