Lite Upgrade?
#1
Newbie question. Is it always possible to use the Lite Upgrade tool to upgrade to a new LL release?

I noticed during install that it stated, "Lite Upgrade can upgrade within the Series".  Not sure if that means Lite Upgrade is safe to use as log as you don't skip a release in the sequential order or if it means that sometimes you need to do a fresh install?

Thanks.

"Within a series" means you can upgrade from 3.6 to 3.8, but not from 3.x to 4.x (x being whatever point release).  The first number is the Series.

So, is there a Lite Upgrade path to go from 4.8 to 5.0?  Will there be a notification of the new release that appears or do you just periodically check?

Thanks, Artim.

No, there is no upgrade path to a new SERIES (from 4.x to 5.x).  When 5.0 comes out, Jerry will announce it here on the web site, and on Facebook, and whatever other outlets.

[member=9309]joemartin[/member] [member=6925]Artim[/member] is correct there is not currently an update path from major releases (3 to 4 or 4 to 5).

But... You also don't have to update right away, unless you want to.. LL4.8 will be supported for sometime - another 3 years..
