It's going preety well, hopefully it will be finished soon.
Some changes to the frontend to look better and backend so we could launch stuff right from the welcome screen with buttons. Also new code will be python 3 compatible.
Like a small control center.  ;D
On the left side is the newer code.

Under the "Install Updates - Do this First section," there's a typo in the first sentence.  The word "your" should be "you."  Currently, it reads:

Once you have installed Linux Lite and before you can begin using it, your first need to run Menu, Favorites, Install Updates. If you are running the Live version of Linux Lite, there is no need to do this.

I just checked, and mine is showing this:

So it's still showing "...your first need to run Menu, Favorites, Install Updates."

The link I provided was the development page. Actual commit: https://github.com/linuxlite/litewelcome...2b5023c766

This has not been pushed as a package. It will be there in 2.6

In his review of December 5, 2014*, Gayan said “Below is the boot-logo and it includes a progress-bar, accuracy of which, is questionable.
Boot logo of Linux Lite 2.2
As an example, usually when the progress-bar reaches the half limit, the logo disappears and the system executes the login screen and starts to load the desktop. Perhaps the progress-bar then represented the whole boot process (from ‘init’ till the desktop got fully loaded), but I think it should have displayed the progress from ‘init’ to login-screen only, otherwise it can be a bit confusing.
The Desktop…
Linux Lite pops-up a welcome screen when you first login to the desktop. Through there you can install updates (if available), read the online documentation, release notes… though it is not terrible useful, it is nice.
Linux Lite 2.2 'Welcome Screen”  *

I (Stan_the_Man) would like to suggest that the LL team make a quick and cosmetic change to the Welcome Screen and simply insert the image of a progress bar at 100% This would reassure newcomers that “No”, the progress bar leaping from the Boot logo of Linux Lite to Linux Lite Welcome Screen is just as cosmetic as the complaint that progress bar is a little “understated”.
I would post the a graphic of the "Proposed Linux Lite  'Welcome Screen'” but I am only allowed to post text attachments.

Excuse the lack of graphics but I hope you get the idea. The concept is to insert the image of a progress bar at 100%  at the bottom of the Linux Lite Welcome Screen
By the time our new linux user shuts off the welcome screen, he or she has been so delighted by it’s great performance, ease of use and completeness that the they find themselves delighted that the “progress bar reaches the half limit, the logo disappears and the system executes the login screen and starts to load the desktop.
Thank you for your consideration and the wonderful LL distro.
