'Preload' app in Lite Tweaks - will this improve performance on an SSD setup?

Will the 'Preload' app, which is listed in Lite Tweaks, enhance performance on a 12 year old laptop which already has an SSD?

preload, a daemon that prefetches binaries and shared libraries from the hard disk to main memory on desktop computer systems, to achieve faster application start-up times. Preload is adaptive: it monitors applications that the user runs, and by analyzing this data, predicts what applications she might run in the near future, and fetches those binaries and their dependencies into memory.

So as Linuxkumpel just wrote, try it and find out for yourself whichever improvement you might gain, and don't worry cause no harm will be made to yur pc.

I installed 'Preload' but, as yet, see no change in performance. Maybe it needs a bit of time to kick in.  As you say it does no harm to the PC, so I'll leave it installed.

Give it a time, it monitors which apps you use the most so they are kept into RAM for them to be loaded faster next time you invoke them. Also, I think you might want to read this: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Preload

Preload first has to learn which applications are used the most.    So patience.
