I think  i have a problem of device. When i  try to boot directly on the hard disk ( and not a USB device), it give me this message :
PXE-E61 : Media test failure, check cable
PXE - MOF : Exiting Broadcom PXE ROM.
no bootable device -- insert boot disk and presse any

But you are right, it may be easily for me to find a french forum. But also here, i learn english  ;D

Dear [member=8148]Sophie G.[/member]  I'm still confused. What is it that you're trying to do? Make a fresh Linux Lite 3.8 install? Update/upgrade your Linux Lite 3.8 install on your pc? Qu'est-ce que tu essayes de faire? Faire une nouvelle installation de Linux Lite 3.8? Ou mettre à jour ton installation de Linux Lite 3.8 a ton PC?
Without each others help there ain't no hope for us Smile

Dear Molkte,
I tried to make a fresh Linux Lite 3.8 install. But , probably because my hard disk  was no more working well,  my installation crashed every time i tried.
I see my hard disk in the Boot Drive, but i cannot boot on it.
By the way, your french is very good !

Dear [member=8148]Sophie G.[/member]  thank you for your kind words on my French. It's been a while since I last spoke/wrote it. Smile

If you're installing Linux Lite you won't be able to boot from your hard drive unless it is already installed. Can you boot from a USB or CD/DVD and get to a live enviroment? Try that first and report back please.

EDIT: By the way, if you happen to succesfully boot to a live environment, you can open firefox and login into the forum, write/reply to your thread, and we can continue from there.

Hope this helps! Smile

Bonjour Sophie G.

For the benefit of most members, I'm asking Sophie if she has been able to install LL 3.8. I just installed and updated an old laptop today. Adding that I'm francophone from Québec. If I can be of some help in French, at explaining or translating, probably better than popular automated translators,  Wink I'll be pleased to do so. Keeping in mind that I'm a Linux newbie.  :Smile

Bonjour peuple,

There is an important information wqhen installing 3.x .
You MUST install it in english and not choose a language on first install. You can add French aftter it is installed.
Choosing a language while installing result in the installer crashing at the very end and leaves you with an installed system but does not boot.

Cheers! ou plutôt à la prochaine! Wink
