Eliminating Windows partition
#1
Currently have LL installed on a dual boot drive beside Windows 7.  After looking at the Libre Office Apps they seem to be compatible with MS Office.  So I'm curious of how many have completely eliminated their Windows partition and only use LL.  In my case I have other Windows machines if I am forced or need it for an unsupported application.  Happy to hear your thoughts.

i already eliminated windows 7 due to its heavy lagg , but after some thime decided to go back and dual boot them both, it was troublesome, so my advice to you is dont delete windows, because if you did that the only way to get it back is to compeletly delete everything on your computer, every KB, anyway i didnt have another computer running windows like your case, so i believe that if you like linux, (and want to stic with it for the upcoming months) so you should delete windows (i saw your other post and i can tell you that theres no diffrence in performance between whether having or not windos aside linux all what differs is the space available)

Thanks for this.  You answered one important question and that there is no difference in performance.  I have another post asking about performance, because I really am not getting as much as I thought I would get using LL.  Hoping eliminating Windows would help.  Thanks

yes i already replaied to that , and i forgot  to say tha if your system is lagging then maybe you had mistakes while installing, and you are lucky that LL V3.8 will be launched next month , then you can install that fresh, untill then go earn some experience so you dont do that mistake again also i will say again that linuxlite is working amazingly on my 1 giga ram pc so it should run well on your 2 giga ram one, just make sure you arent doing any thing wrong thats causing performance drops, also i recommend deleting firefox and installing any other browser (i believe taht opera is the fastest and also the best)

Heya!

Also check if some proprietary drivers are available for your system.
Different drivers on network and video can make a world of differences.

I completely eliminated Windows from my laptop back in 2013. Since then, I've built two desktops that I regularly use. One has never had Windows installed, while the other was set up as a dual boot with Windows 7, just in case. About six months ago I decided I had no need to maintain a Windows partition and haven't missed it. LibreOffice has handled all my document and spreadsheet needs for years now. Most people I deal with in the business world have no idea I'm using Linux.

I've helped three other people convert to Linux Lite and eliminate Windows. I would encourage you to give it a go!

LoL, I would but my job is mainly supporting people with M$ software, so doing so would be shooting myself in the foot... or the wallet. Wink
I do voluntary work though and all computers are reinstalled using Linux, for all the good reasons you already know. Big Grin

Cheers!
