How much RAM did it have.?
For most PC users, they have no idea what goes on under the bonnet, in fact they are afraid that they might "hurt" themselves or similar. They also have little knowledge on how to "service" their OS -.
Unfortunately we live in a throw away society. caught up in the ever bigger ever better treadmill, controlled by the Chip/OS industry. I dread to think of how much perfectly good hardware is sent to landfill , as it is deemed to be out of date or drivers are no longer available. The problem has been further magnified, by the mobile phone craze and the fact that these tablets are not build with easily replaceable batteries, and charging ports that are easily broken.
Fortunately you were able to retrieve it.
I seriously believe that basic linux should be taught in schools, carrying on from the rasberry Pi initiative. Basic ability to code and understand the thought processes behind algorithms, should be the new "Latin", o the new "chess".
Assembling / fault finding on PCs etc should be the new "car mechanics"
