I'm trying to outfit a friend's laptop running LL 3.6, with bluetooth audio. It will require a dongle, as BT is not built in.
I don't see any BT audio in the LL database. At Amazon, only 2 BT audio dongles show up, and the reviews are not encouraging.
Do most BT dongles work with Linux, even if it's not advertised as such?
Thanks.

From what I've been reading, almost all the dongles use the same chip, and all should work, though perhaps not very well.

4x Kernel used makes my external usb bluetooth work. I got one of those chinese cheapo dongles off of ebay .

Yep. Takes a little elbow grease to get things working. Still working fine today.

Thanks [member=494]rokytnji[/member]. That thread looks like a good resource. I hope I don't have a lot of trouble, as I'm not great with the CLI.

Great news. I tried my existing BT dongle, but without success. It may have been me doing something wrong. Then today the new dongle came in (both are BT 4.0). I paired the headphones to it without any problem whatsoever, which is very nice.
