Grub Menu and Bootup screen still LL3.4 after upgrade to LL3.6
#1
Just upgraded to LL3.6 and actual system working no problem.  Dual booting on laptop with Peppermint8 and Grub menu still shows LL3.4 even though during upgrade it seemed to update Grub at least twice.  Also during bootup sequence when 4 dots show, LL3.4 is still system noted.
Obviously not really of great concern as installed system is definitely LL3.6 according to System Information.
Anybody else with same experience?

Did you follow the upgrade instructions in the Release Announcement to the letter?

I followed your two-step upgrade:  Install updates (and rebooted whether it asked or not - can't remember if it asked!) THEN Lite Upgrade in Settings (and rebooted again) but Grub menu and LL3.4 Bootup did not change.
Did I miss something?

Thanks Jerry for your quick response.  I tried boot up fix twice with reboot after first try then shutdown after second go.  Unfortunately nothing has changed but I can live with these errors as long as system works fine.  I have a systemback restore point July 27 so can go back and try a new upgrade if necessary.  Meanwhile I'll enjoy your upgrade.  No one else is reporting similar problem so maybe I didn't reboot after update, although I'm sure I would have if asked.
Should I mark this abandoned as not really solved?

We'll leave it open for now. Abandoned status is for threads that people have not responded to when asked, or have not been replied to by the OP for months.

A couple of thoughts and maybe it may help/shed light...
I updated my system last night grub still shows Linux Lite

As you guys are running other Linux distros. Is LL the controlling grub? Or is one of the other distros grub controlling boot??? If the other distro's were installed prior to LL I would assume the 1st is the controlling.

I'm no Linux or Grub guru but thinking all round the box  Big Grin

If another distro's grub is controlling, I would assume a grub update should correct... From the other distro's terminal
Code:
sudo update-grub
Then Reboot...

Only other thought I'd have...

What was the originating LL version installed? i.e. did you install 3.0 then upgrade thru to 3.6
- If 3.0 and if I recall correctly, 3.2 was when grub changed to not be the controlling grub.
May be useful info to the guru's ?? ;D

Hope it helps!!

Wow!  Just shows the power of Linux forums with many inputs.  Thanks [member=5414]firenice03[/member].
I did sudo grub-update from Peppermint8 distro during which it said "...found LL3.6".  Rebooted and in grub menu showed LL3.6 AND during boot up again LL3.6 at 4 dots.  Yes, I did install Peppermint8 first and it obviously has control of grub as you suggested.  Will mark as solved.
