Update Standard Folders to New Language Thunar
#1
I have recently started getting a strange message immediately after login. It's headed : Update Standard Folders to New Language?
and then goes on to advise that I've logged in using a new language and do I want to automatically update the names of some standard folders to match this language. It then says the following folders would be changed /home/username to /home/username/Music

I have an option to Keep Old Names and not to be asked again but I'd prefer to have an idea of what's going on first. Can anyone advise please.

This is 64 bit 3.4, by the way.

Thanks

Thank you, Jerry. Very useful links to AskUbuntu. It seems the user directory list is saved in .config/user-dirs.dirs and mine showed that ny Music folder was being referenced as Home. No idea why and it didn't seem to have anything to do with locale as this (user-dirs.locale) was set to en-GB, as it has been for a while.
Anyway I accepted the recommendation to switch to the new folder name and the Music directory reappeared, though as it had nothing in it anyway I hadn't noticed. I had run VLC recently to run a track on a memory stick and I think the messages started after that, though why Music reverted to Home is still unclear.
No problem, though - a some very useful advice and a little bit more knowledge gained (if I can remember it, of course). 8)
