Maybe an option to add the password column instead of changing category to password?

Unfortunately, we have width constraints.

Not sure whether an extra column is needed.  I presume a password request box appears when appropriate.  Would the extra column alter a user's decision whether to try a tweak or not??  Hence have voted stay as now.

All the other columns give good information, but I'd have to say either Category or Password would be the least useful column of the group. And newtusmaximus makes a good point, that knowing whether the user will be prompted for a password probably doesn't affect the decision to run the tweak. (Maybe we assume that because we are generally the admin for our system.)

Rather than a Password column, could you give the same information by adding an asterisk next to the name with an explanation in the header "*password required," since it's basically true/false information?

Well, I really can't add my vote on the poll since I share a complete different idea on the subject.

I believe that the "Category" column is redundant and a waste of space based on the fact that users can sort by Name and Task. For example:

Name | Task | Category | Grade | Description

Bootup Fix -  Fix - Repair - Caution - Description goes here.

I'd vote for removing the "Category" column all together and not replacing it with a "Password" column because that defeats the purpose of saving space and clearing the dialog UI. Something like:

Name | Task | Category | Grade | Description

Bootup Fix -  Fix - Repair - Caution - Description goes here.

If there were a real need to hint which tasks do require administrative privileges, I'd add an asterisk to it - Name* as shown below.

The reason why I don't believe the column Password is necessary is because Lite Tweaks executes tasks in a specific order:

1- Tasks don't requiring Administrative Privileges
2- Tasks requiring Administrative Privileges

When users execute multiple tasks, that's the order in which it is done. Users are only prompted for administrative credentials once non administrative tasks have been executed. At that point Users can simply cancel the SINGLE prompt asking for credentials. Also, removing the redundant column will reduce the dialog width; useful on small screens, laptops.

Those are my two cents - unfortunately there is no option for me to vote on this poll Tongue

Sorry for seeming stupid and preferring Linux - I just don't know any better.

[member=6629]ralphy[/member] -- I think we said a lot of the same things! We must have been writing our posts at the same time. And obviously, great minds, thinking alike and all that.  Wink
