Existing Linux users are not our target audience. I'd much rather prefer to spend the time speaking directly to a Windows audience.

Understood.  I don't listen to Jupiter Broadcasting.  Their podcasts are nearly 2 hours long.  I do listen to the Going Linux podcast.  Their target audience is more in line with the Linux Lite goal, though I'm sure I'm the only person I know who listens to them, and I only became full time with Linux shortly after joining this forum.

I'm still under 2 years removed from having Windows 7 as my full time daily driver.  Even so, I only sought out Going Linux after I became (or started to become) a full time Linux user.  Linux drove me to Going Linux, not the other way around.

For me I wouldn't even get on Lite or even Linux without JBS. They been doing Linux distribution spotlights and such. But if it wasn't for Chris and Noah showing off Fedora and arch  I wouldn't be on any Linux distribution. I be on MacOS. I have no respect for windows and there unethical practices. Though apple not worst but at least I can get around on Lite and leave it alone. It Looks and feels like MacOS.

If someone brand new to Linux overall came to Linux Lite from Windows, and Jupiter Broadcasting was their link, then Linux Lite owes them a thank you.  I believe all Jerry is saying is that isn't the normal path to attract his target audience.

It is more than likely that Jupiter Broadcasting's audience is comprised of Linux users, or the occasional Linux-curious MacOS user or admirer like yourself.  Windows users is the bigger audience, and that is the target of this project.  But all are welcome however they get here.

If Linux on the desktop wants to move from 2% market share to 4%, it can't keep preaching to the choir.  And you have to admit, your and my Linux podcasts of choice tend to do that.  The way we can help is to take the knowledge we gain from them and share it with others in our sphere of influence.  I, for one, am experiencing success sharing what I know with Windows users.  I think if I talked to someone already using Linux, instead of me talking them into Linux Lite, they'd be focused on talking me out of it.  The old "my distro is better than yours" scenario.

Cheers

I Agree but I do think that  we need to focus an lil more  all aspect of the  spectrum.  We should get JBS and other Linux  daily users know about Lite. Noah is need and distribution to recommend

There are only so many hours in a day. We must look at all the avenues to a Windows audience, and spend our time wisely promoting via those options.
Analogy - when a politician is trying to solicit votes, does he campaign in a country town with a population of 25, or does he campaign in a city with a population of millions?

You talking to the wrong guy about that analogy.  I am nether party.  Before I get  in an sour mood.  Targeting windows and macOS users is better then just windows.  I haven't use windows since 98. I have switch my mom from windows to mac. Soon to Lite I hope.

Jerry didn't mention (political) parties.

Your way to Linux Lite via podcasts and MacOS is unlikely to be duplicated often.  But you're still welcome here, and so is your mother.

Neither did bluezeo, party in this sentence means -
"A person or people forming one side in an agreement or dispute. ‘a contract between two parties’ "

You may also need to look this one up -

Converting anyone from Apple products is a desirable trait IMO, they are one of the most exploitative corporations out there.
