Linux Lite 3.2 Beta Released
#11
Have just done a clean install of LL 3.2 64 bit.

Install was very fast despite using a very old pata hdd.

One thing I did notice when going into synaptic you cannot change the server location it only gives an option to reload

which does nothing.

Otherwise looking good  Smile

now to give it a good run.

Thanks Jocklad, I'm working on that Synaptic issue. It's actually tied to Grub funnily enough.

Hi

System configuration below and I cannot get it to run the drivers install from the Welcome Screen
Nothing happens.  Can only start up in "nomodeset" as the system logs in ok but it does not initialise my monitor.

I have completed a full system update upgrade and rebooted

What command would I run from the terminal to see any further output ?

Thanks in advance Zeb...

update - just rebooted after installing the nvidia drivers manually and it now boots full screen.

The "Install Drivers" still does not work and the errors were in the terminal output I posted but at least I now have 3440 x 1440 on my main screen and 1920x1080 on my secondary screen.

My system is open to use for any testing you need carried out with this setup.

Regards Zeb...

Anything that opens software-properties-gtk will not work in the Beta. This includes: Repository selection, Additional Drivers etc. This all ties into how the system is 'labeled' within certain files in Ubuntu based distros. Grub also looks at this labeling and reads the info, so this is all one, intertwined issue. It's quite messy. I've already made the announcement that Grub will play nicely with other distros, the only way for now to get Grub and other pars of the system to work properly is to read the label 'Ubuntu'. This will fix the other bugs that are reported here in regards to software-properties-gtk.

So to summarize, those who dual/multi-boot with Windows and other linux distros, the Linux Lite Grub menu entry will show as 'Ubuntu'. This is one of the reasons I originally had grub only set to work with Windows. There is some regret here with the new method, but I am torn between trying to keep 2 camps happy. We do not target existing linux users, but we're a linux distro, so it's bound to happen regardless.

One I noticed this morning.

On initial boot the lite-widget did not show any updates available.

A manual check showed updates available.

On reboot the lite-widget did see the updates.

What about lite control center? When I tried to install it on 3.0 it asked me for lite upgrade 2.0.
