4.8 Linux Lite Kernel is now available for 32 & 64bit machines.
Do not install this kernel unless you specifically need it.

Open a terminal and do:

Code:
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install linux-headers-linuxlite-4.8.0 linux-image-linuxlite-4.8.0 -y

Ignore any errors in the terminal.
IMPORTANT: Only install this kernel if you need it or if you are adept at getting out of trouble from a TTY.

NOTE: ONLY the 64bit kernel is available at the moment. The 32bit build is failing and needs to be troubleshooted.

Question: Do not install? Applies to all OR JUST 32 bit?

32-bit isn't available yet, so you can't install it.

64-bit is available, and you should "not install this kernel unless you specifically need it."  And "Only install this kernel if you need it or if you are adept at getting out of trouble from a TTY."

Just a heads up, 32bit may be delayed by some time. I even took the Ubuntu packaged kernel, repacked it and it still failed.  ??? ???

Sorry torrey, what had me confused was if it came up on your installs, didn't think about people jumping the gun and installing from other websites. I wait for updates from the latest install packages.

This shouldn't show up with your regular updates.  The Install Updates utility in the Linux Lite 3.x series will give you security updates for your kernel, but not version updates.  If everything is already running well, just continue to run Install Updates, and you'll be fine.

I play with kernel installs. Too busy lately being a biker though to play on my computers.

As soon as I get my touchscreen working, external usb bluetooth speaker, laptop or desktop running cool, all hot keys workings.

That kernel becomes the main backup. Then I can play with newer ones. They are easy enough to uninstall and install if you have the skill set like I do.
