Wi-Fi icon in the taskbar gone
#1
Hi all, by accident I deleted the wifi icon in the taskbar,  :-[  now I cannot get it back. I searched in the start menu but I don't see how to enable this setting to show again any ideas?

Thanks

The wifi icon should be part of the "Indicator Plugin" on the panel (I believe).  Maybe you accidentally deleted the Indicator Plugin.

Right-click an empty area on the panel, then choose:  Panel -> Panel Preferences -> Items (tab).  Scroll through list of "Items" to see if "Indicator Plugin" is one of them.
  • If it is not there, do the following to put it back on the panel:
    • [li]While in Items tab, click the "+" to add a new item
    • Find "Indicator Plugin" on the list that pops up and click to highlight it; then
    • Click the "Add" button; then "Close" button
    • It will now be at bottom of Items list
    • If you want to change its position on the panel, use arrow buttons
    • Click "Close" when done and hopefully the wireless icon is back again.
    [/li]
  • If plugin is still showing in the Items list, try the following:
    • [li]Click the Indicator Plugin to highlight it; then
    • Click the icon below the "X" icon to "Edit the currently selected item"
    • In the Indicators window, click "Clear known indicators" button to reset to defaults
    • Hopefully that restores the wifi icon
    [/li]

Good luck.

Your welcome.

Just so I and others who see this know for future reference:  which of the two scenarios above was the problem?

Did you accidentally delete the Indicator Plugin?  Or did you need to 'reset' the indicators?

Hello, this one worked:

"If it is not there, do the following to put it back on the panel:
While in Items tab, click the "+" to add a new item
Find "Indicator Plugin" on the list that pops up and click to highlight it; then
Click the "Add" button; then "Close" button

If you want to change its position on the panel, use arrow buttons
Click "Close" when done and hopefully the wireless icon is back again."

Oh one more thing, is there a way to bring back the classic start menu and delete Whisker?

Thanks.

Go through same procedure you just did above to add an "Item" to the panel.  Click "+" to add and you'll see "Applications Menu" as one of the first listings.  That's the classic menu -- select it and add it.  Once added, highlight it in the items list and click the edit item button.  Now, click the generic Xfce icon to open a window with icon choices on it if you want to change the generic one.

With "Applications Icons" in the drop-down box at top of window, scroll through until you find the LL menu icon, or any other you might want to use.

Select it, hit "OK" and your done.

EDIT:  Nevermind -- just saw you asked same question elsewhere and already got the answer.
