Well, jjjimmy1, I am probably as new to Linux as you are, and I too had come across this problem of how to run Linux Lite on a computer with a non-pae processor.
The "forcepae" step is described on the Linux Mint site
here (scroll down and look at "Booting with non-PAE CPUs"). There is additional and very useful information on the Ubuntu site
here.
I tried this when running Live sessions of Linux Lite on my old laptop, and it worked. In the end I did not install Linux Lite on that machine, so I have not established whether forcepae is a lasting solution or has to be done on each bootup. But I had an interesting forum-dialogue with
gold_finger (a real LL expert) in
this forum thread about whether the double entry of the "forcepae" command would ensure that an installed version of Linux Lite continued to function. Look in particular at posts #5 and #6 in that thread. If putting in forcepae twice does not permanently enable LL to run, then
gold_finger has also provided another way of solving the problem by editing/updating grub.
If you try either of these routes, I'm sure there are several LL forum members who would be interested to learn how you get on.
Best of luck.....
