'Encrypt the new Linux installation for security'
#1
Why is this option during the installation frowned upon by Linux Lite?  Does it not work?

Which option are you referring to? The Encryption with LVM or the Encrypt Home folder option at the user details part?

The encrypt home folder part.

I haven't done it on an install yet, but in light of this story I began to wonder.  I actually heard about this 4 days ago and that there's been an emergency patch put out, but apparently the story about the vulnerability has resurfaced and is becoming more popular than the part about the patch.

Right.  I'm aware of the patch.  It's not getting the publicity the vulnerability is getting.  Nevertheless, it all re-sparked my curiosity about why the Linux Lite Help Manual states:  Note: If you want to encrypt your home folder, do not select the option 'Encrypt the new Linux installation for security' instead, please follow these instructions here.

It's not 'frowned upon'. We simply haven't discovered why choosing that option crashes the installer. This has been covered several times in these Forums. Cheers Smile
