Is it too soon to make suggestions as to the format of LL3.0; in particular loading/installation hardware compatibility and "included" content?

As I understand it, a new LTS will result in the opportunity to consider major changes as opposed to a step by step approach within a given LTS? A chance for a rethink/discussion / cross roads? Also LL3.0 will require a fresh installation as opposed to an "Upgrade"? Is that a correct understanding?

Just to follow on, having looked at the Ubuntu link, and it's incremental changes 14.04 > 15.10
Does that mean updating LL from 2.0 > 2.2~2.8 mean you have to upgrade to 3.0..??
or is 2.0 ~ 2.8 still LTS, and supported till April 2019
Maybe if there is nothing of great significance in 3.0,
then 2.x may serve many people till April 2019

@Jerry,
:-[ :-[ :-[
I guess I have become to complacent during installs
I did not read that bit about upgrades...
But regarding the LTS,
Ubuntu 14.04 LTS is shown till April 2019, or is that only for Ubuntu.?
I know you will be doing series upgrades every 2 years
But could I stay on 2.8 till 2019.?

You are free to stay on LTS for as long as you choose to.

@Jerry,
I'm sure 3.0 will be great...
But it's nice to have options
