Linux Lite 2.8 Suggestion Thread
#61
(09-25-2015, 04:59 PM)Wirezfree link Wrote: @Lend27

Unless there's been a change..??

This is the Road Map

"2.8" ~ February 2016 and "Linux Lite Citrine" ~ June 2016

Thanks for the reply Smile

So is Citrine 3.0?  If yes, that would be June 2016 at the earliest?
Am I interpreting that correctly?

Thanks!

@Lend27,

Just a thought..??
If you are needing UEFI because you want to dual boot with Windows.??
Depending on how often you need to do it.??
You could always think of just running LL in Legacy mode, and put Windows in Virtualbox.??

I would hope more people take advantage of this solution. I understand there can sometimes be other factors like video performance that can be one of the deciding factors in keeping windows on hardware. Anyhoo, I'm getting OT Smile

Hi,
I would prefer Geary than ThunderBird becasue of its simplicity.
For working use, ThunderBird is no doubt.

Minor suggestion 1 - how about adding the Date and Time to the top right corner of the Login screen like in previous Linux Lite versions. That line and space above the line at the top of the login screen, sticks out and feels like wasted space imo.

Minor suggestion 2- how about adding a more fancy boot loading screen, something like Lubuntu's or Linux Mint's load screening. Have it say Linux Lite or have it say Linux Lite with the feather logo above it and get rid of the loading bar at the bottom and have it fancy with the feather being the loading bar inside the feather something fancy like that, because right now its just the feather and  I get the feather is the logo but every time I boot up, i feel like im booting into a OS or Distro called Feather Linux. haha

+1 for that

Even better,
Have the LL user manual in Cherrytree format.
That would be excellent for searching.
I wish I could do that...

I have a high latency network connection (satellite), and the default network settings don't work well with it.
What I would like to see added is some sort of simple network setting optimiser that would allow
me to change the settings from a gui, for things such as:

net.ipv4.tcp_rmem = Receive window memory vector
net.ipv4.tcp_wmem = Send window memory vector
net.ipv4.tcp_mem = TCP stack memory vector
net.ipv4.tcp_no_metrics_save

In windows I used to have a program called tcp optimiser, but I haven't found anything similar for Linux.
I usually use a terminal to set these, by the instructions in an old tutorial found on the ubuntu forums.

This is a link to the tutorial:  http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=872346

Can folks please take a look at and test this theme - http://xfce-look.org/content/show.php/Ad...ent=157905 I think it's a more complete dark theme that seems to work well but I'd like some feedback before proceeding. Once installed, in Appearance choose 'Adwaita Graphene' leave 'MediterraneanLight' selected in Window Manager. This theme seems to make Faenza icons pop more and the Whiskermenu look and functions well. The LL apps look pretty good too. I wouldn't say I'm 100% happy with it, what the goal is, is to find a dark theme that fits LL like a glove. Thank you Smile
