whisker menu changed????
#1
Has the outlay of the whisker menu changed? It now says Applications instead of Menu and is actually upside down..before all settings, lock screen, switch users and log out icons where on the bottom right and now they are on the top right.

Not sure if its me or that the whisker menu has changed and i missed something along the line.

May I suggest you open

menu -> settings -> settings manager

and surf thru to see what you want.

If you just want to change the layout of the whisker menu without moving the panel, just right-click on the menu and choose: Properties

On the tab "Apperance" you can change the name and/or icon. So in your case you can change the Title (back) to "Menu" while also choosing the correct Display mode you want.

On the tab "Behaviour" you can determine the position of the elements.

Hope that helps Smile

Already found out how to change the name and if you want only title and/or icon.
But the complete menu looks different, the search bar and icons to the right of it where at the bottom and now they are at the top.
Just wondering if that is how it supposed to be now or that something strange is going on here.

Have you done anything to the menu lately? Installed or reinstalled Whisker Menu? Restored defaults? These are the only ways it can change.

No, the only thing that happened was a powerfailure. The laptop doesnt have a battery so it shut down straight away, after a reboot the whiskermenu layout was changed.

This is how it looks now:

IIRC there is a menu setting to reverse the columns but I am not in a position to confirm just now. If no one else chirps in I will look later.

However I am convinced that Whisker menu is buggy as I have had numerous problems with it (and no, I've never clicked the menu restore to defaults button). Just yesterday I installed LL2.4 on an Asus 701SD netbook, it works fine but I edited the menu (using the Edit Menu option) to remove Games entries just by unticking them and lo and behold other entries in other categories disappeared and some entries were moved to a different category. Also the Install Updates had disappeared, but I know how to restore that. It seems that the whisker menu is best left untouched after an initial install.

Edit: To reverse menu columns, as LL-user said, Menu/Properties/Behavior, tick 'Position categories next to panel button'
1) Lenovo T520 i5 LL3.8 8GB ram, fast & stable
2) Medion P4 32bit LL3.8 1GB ram, quite fast & stable
3) eeePC 901 32bit LL3.8 1GB ram, fast & stable
4) eeePC 701 32bit LL3.8 1GB ram, slower & stable but small and light enough to travel with me to New Zealand when visiting family in Blenheim.

I have the same problem after the same issue, powercut leading to improper shutdown.

Trying to insert an image but if it doesnt work, here is the link to the screenshot

OK, I posted too early I guess.

I can now have the Categories on the left and entries on the right by using the Beagiaviour tab like LL-user said. However, the shutdown etc buttons are at the top which I dont know how to bring back to the original position at the bottom.

Please help.

Hi Faiz Ahmed Faiz,

This also can be configured by the options offered on the Behavior tab (right click menu -> Properties -> Behavior).

Activate/tick these two options to change the positoin of the search bar and all the buttons:

* Position search entry next to panel button
* Postion commands next to search entry

Hope that helps Smile
