Hello,
I've been a Linux user for some years having ditched Windows a long long time ago. I'm not a Linux pro by any means though and still consider myself a numpty! ;D My main distro has been Peppermint Linux in various incarnations for some years now but I tried Linux Lite 2.1 last year on a spare drive after seeing it on a magazine disc. I liked it but I couldn't get it to run coming up with a boot error which was documented on the Linux Lite forums at the time. I just happened to be looking at Distrowatch a couple of days ago and was surprised to see v2.4 on there and promptly downloaded the 32bit version and installed it on the same spare drive.

I can now boot and use the distro but I wouldn't go so far as to say it's stable. I had a kernel panic last night when it crashed out of YouTube and dropped to a text shell. I had to REISUB out as I couldn't find any way to exit from the shell. Also when I want to log off it seems to become very very laggy and more often than not I have to REISUB to shutdown or restart.

I do like the distro, it being very similar in a lot of ways to Peppermint. I hope I can work through the niggles as I'm sure that's all they are and get to the point where it becomes easier to use.

Thanks to all for what promises to be a good experience,

Regards,

Dave.

Howdy & Welcome.

Did you md5sum check your downloaded Iso and how did you install? DVD burn or USB?

Because mine has been so stable as to be mindless to run.

Dvd burn on slowest speed and md5sum checked out ok. Generally speaking I can navigate around ok and done all the updates which has improved things. I've since been on Youtube again and all seemed ok but when I click the menu button to log out/restart/shutdown it's almost as if the screen has frozen but it hasn't it just suddenly becomes very delayed.

Hi demag, and a warm welcome. Smile
Think I've seen your name around the Peppermint scene.

Before LL, I was a Peppermint user since Peppermint 2 until 5.
I have a netbook with a slow SSD which I used to distro hop, I found LL and it went much quicker than other distros,

Then I duel booted with Peppermint 5, on this laptop, but found myself using LL nearly all the time, so I decided to do a full install of LL and have never looked back.

Same as rokytnji, I have never had problems, I would persevere as I have always found it rock solid and highly adaptable.

Again welcome.

Hello, demag!

Welcome to the Linux Lite community. It would seem that your logout/shutdown issue is the same one I have been experiencing on the machine I am using now when trying to use LL on it.

Since some other people have also experienced this same issue, I am willing to help the development team in any way I can to get to the bottom of it all - especially if they are unable to duplicate the issue themselves...

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone.
Since doing all the updates I can move around ok and no more kernel crashes but I still have the logout issue, other than that everything seems fine. Strange, with LL 2.1 I couldn't login. With LL 2.4 I can't logout! Haha.
