Hi, I am new to Linux Lite. Just installed it on an Intel NUC platform using the embedded MMC 4 gig "drive". All that is installed apart from the default is Opencpn, which is a navigation program. I have removed the office apps and now only have about 60 meg free. I am looking for information as to which files /apps / utilities I could remove to give me some space? I would like to install Chrome and remove Firefox as I use Chrome everywhere else and the way it syncs your everything is what I want. Is Chrome bigger than Firefox after installation?

Do you have Menu, System, Lite Tweaks installed?

No, should it be there?

When did you last update?

Maybe lack of space is not allowing update. I just ran "Install Updates" and the terminal scrolled though and then said it was closing, nothing happened after that..

Open a terminal, do:
Code: sudo apt-get remove firefox && sudo apt-get clean && sudo apt-get install lite-cleaner Then go to Menu, System, Lite Tweaks. Go through it and free up some space. Example:

I have lite cleaner, not lite tweaks, looks like the same thing. I have run lite cleaner several times and still only have currently 38.8meg free space according to mousing over the "File System" icon in File manager. Haven't removed Firefox..

So have you followed my instructions from my last post?
02-28-2015, 04:01 AM
Will do..

Done as requested.. When running it said - 1 to remove, 204 not upgraded.
Now shows, after doing the Lite Tweaks, 144.2meg free 96% used. Now I don't have a web browser, so I guess I will install chrome if there is enough space.. |
