Dropbox Icon not visible in Linux Lite 2.2 64bit edition.
#1
Hello Linux Lite Gurus

So I installed the latest Dropbox that there is when currently posting this issue.
The first time starting after the install all was fine and I saw the Dropbox icon on the Panel.

A few restarts later the Dropbox Icon was gone. But when I look at Task Manager the application is running like it should.

Any ideas why this is happening and is there a fix for this disappeared Dropbox Icon?

Thank you in advance,
vaikus84

I installed Dropbox like this:
-------------------------------
Setup key with:

sudo apt-key adv --keyserver pgp.mit.edu --recv-keys 5044912E

Setup repository with:

sudo sh -c 'echo "deb http://linux.dropbox.com/ubuntu/ trusty main" >> /etc/apt/sources.list.d/dropbox.list'

Install:

sudo apt-get update -y && sudo apt-get -y install dropbox

Did you install Dropbox from Menu > All > Install Additional Software?

Occassionally this will happen to me too - the Dropbox icon is missing at boot but still working. When this happens rebooting always fixes this for me. When you reboot does the Dropbox icon return?

Hi Vaikus84,

Okay, scratch the first part of my question about installation, we must have posted at the same time!

Hi Vaikus84,

I don't know if your installation method will cause any problems in Linux Lite (I'm sure others on the fourm will be able to answer that) but is the missing icon always missing or does it appear sometimes when you reboot?

Dropbox should be installed from Menu > All > Install Additional Software.

After the Dropbox Icon was gone. It hasn't returned after several reboots after several days.

So how would I go about manually uninstalling the current Dropbox prior to installing it via the Install Additional Software GUI ?

I don't have an answer to this one but be patient and I'm sure someone will be around soon. Smile
