Linux Lite 2.0 Final Released
#21
Hello!

To the best of MY knowledge, at this time, there IS no way to upgrade a previous version of Linux Lite. Unfortunately, when changing versions, a complete reinstall is required.

Even WITH the versions of Ubuntu that offer an upgrade option, I generally reinstall, as I don't trust Ubuntu's 'upgrade' utility...

how can I update my existing 1.0.8 system to 2.0, without need for a complete reinstall?

The way we put LL together and the amount of customization we do to things like the Menu, I doubt there will ever be an upgrade path for LL.

I also noticed you guys are currently riding high in the distrowatch popularity charts.

Wow -- you're right!

Last week Lite was ranked 34.  Today it shows as 26th.  That IS quite a bump up in the rankings!

Hello!

Congratulations, Valtam. That IS quite an accomplishment - ESPECIALLY considering all the different 'flavors' of Linux out there!

Thanks Rob, couldn't do it without others help and support, from the helpful folk like yourself here on the Forums to coders, documentation writers, it all makes for a fantastic team effort!

Hello!

You're welcome, Valtam. It is quite satisfying to see this distribution grow in popularity so quickly.

I must say that being featured on Distrowatch and Spatry's continued good reviews have definitely helped in a major way. What's also quite surprising in the Linux world is that an overwhelming percentage of those who try out Linux Lite end up staying with it...

Hi Valtam. You said earlier this year that it should be possible to use Google Drive after the new release of LL.  Do you have any more information about this?

Searched forum but could not find answers to my questions. Sorry if I missed them.

1. Is the Lite Software Center still available or do you just use Synaptic to get the Ubuntu Software Center and/or Lubuntu Software Center?

2. Is there an update available notifier now or do you still just check yourself periodically?
