I echo need for good backup program, preferably one that can take system/partition saves, compress them, like Paragon HDM.

Search utility: synapse
https://launchpad.net/synapse-project

(I lack the skills (yet) to figure out how to install from raw .tar file, but had this on other OS's and it's lightning fast and works out of the panel bar.)

I find current supplied search engine never finds things, but maybe am not looking in right places. Synapse looks everywhere everytime and very fast.

Transmission for torrents is generally more popular I believe. Very good anyway.

Congratulations for your convenient install additional software feature.

I live in rural area and find it helpful to monitor network traffic speed during downloading. And other stuff too is good to know as well.

System Load Indicator (which displays small graph in the panel) and from there can open more thorough System Monitor are good, though have read they have memory leak issues.

In which case:
sudo sh -c "sync; echo 3 > /proc/sys/vm/drop_caches"
is a handy command to immediately clear out and start over

Hi
I installed System-Back via LX-Terminal.
The commands are:
1) Add Repo
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:nemh/systemback

2) Update
sudo apt-get update

3) Install
sudo apt-get install systemback

The application has the most user friendly and effective GUI.

When I attempted to create a Live Image of my Installation of Linux Lite without User Data,
I found that the ISO takes into account the following:
a) Entire ROOT Folder
b) Root & Users - the password configurations and rights or privileges
c) The Applications Installed
d) The Menu as we had customised

Thus it is a great tool
I love it, thanks for posting such a useful suggestion
Yours

Hello!

Just installed LL 2.0 on the new Dell netbook. Until I can figure out how to make a GRUB dual boot work in UEFI, I have LL on Legacy boot and 8.1 Pro w/Media Center booting UEFI. It's like running LL on a storage card because I must use F12 to select LL, and then deal with GRUB.

If one's not included already, an on-screen keyboard for touchscreens would be nice...

Hi Rob,

Great minds... I just did this on my HP15-TS with LL 2
From what I read, it was supposed to be in 14.04 standard.??, but I had to install:
Code:
sudo apt-get install onboard
Not worked through all the options(lots) yet, and I've been starting it manually,
I guess it would have to be in "Start-up" for it to launch automatically.
Also if you want it to "automatically" appear when you have text input options,
It needs to install a bunch of gnome stuff..?? I've not investigated that yet.
((To be honest, It's more out of curiosity, I've never really been into touch, except on phones/tablets))

Hi,

Regarding the errors..
I had 2 or 3 errors the first time I ran it.
I posted them on them on the dev's Launchpad page.
He responded the same day and released an update next day.
I suspect he's not able to test on every variant of Hardware.?
Go here to post errors/ask questions:
https://launchpad.net/systemback

I suspect this is why you are not getting the option to change things..??
Also I had an issue with disk space initially.
Do you know how much free disk space you have.?
In a terminal ( ctrl-alt-t ) type:
Code:
df -h
You will need at least enough for the .sblive image, and also temp space for the .iso creation.
I needed @ 4/5 GB

When it's working, you can define locations, and the file is: <name_you_gave_it>.sblive
If I remember the default is in your /home/<your_name>/systemback directory.
