The lite updates come from: Install Updates
Lite Upgrade: Upgrades Linux Lite within that Series to the newer version
A Distribution Upgrade is going from Linux Lite 2.0 to 4.4 [out of the series Upgrade]

Just a note on this, like mentionned in a few places, this is not supported in Linux Lite.
You can only upgrade inside the same series, 4.2 to 4.4 for example.
If you have version 3.8, you will have to do a clean (fresh)  install to 4.x ... Copy your files on another disk first of course.
