Kernel package trouble
#11
The machine does not recognize an Asus wifi stick, so it remains dead to the world. I am now tempted to try to remove the 101 kernel since the machine was working before. Would this be ill-advised?

OK, I have managed to restore a Grub menu so that I can choose a configuration at startup, and by choosing the 97-generic my system functions again.

The problem now is that the machine wants to start in 101 by default, and to update to it, either of which makes my network devices unfindable. How can I keep my system stable and starting by default with a working configuration?

You can use Grub Customizer to set the order of kernels to boot - http://ubuntuhandbook.org/index.php/2016...16-04-lts/
