Just a suggestion here, but if you haven't already you might try clearing the cache and deleting cookies. Sometimes the simple answers are the ones we overlook.

Thanks torreydayle & avj,
Just to try all possibilities I have carried out your suggestions - re browsers I have cleared history cookies etc on Chromium, Chrome, Firefox and Midori. I have then shut down and rebooted computer. Regret no change - Mouse pointer freezes as before, irrespective of whether usb or ps2 ( separate mouses ( mice?
) Other mouse functions work i.e get ghosting as described above.
To recap problem originally overcome with pepperflah in previous version of LL but now returned since upgrade. Has something changed with youtube?? Very frustrating.

Wirezfree.
"It seems if you Google "intel 82q963/q965 mouse problems" Spot On. Carried out instructions as per link. Did this for Chromiun and Chrome. Restarted each browser to acivate change Could not find similar action points in Firefox or Midori.
Shut down computer - wait a few minutes and rebooted.
Youtube issues appear to be resolved for this video card Although only actioned for Chrome/chromium - problems seems to be resoved for Midori and Firefox on this computer at the same time??!! Not at all sure the meaning of this. When the problem suddenly recurred after upgrade to 2.6 ( see previous history) what could have triggerred this problem again. How could latering the settings of one browser effect the response of the others?? On standard Kernel for ll 2.6 i.e. 3.13
Anyway many thanks to all who have chipped in with the trial and error suggestions. Valued group resonse again!!

Well glad it's sorted...
Not sure what the "workaround does"..??
On reading some of the things the underlying driver i915 was mentioned...
Also in some it seemed to infer an "actual fix" may have been added in kernel > 3.16.??
