You can always run a live ISO first,

Then I must first make a USB Stick with the ISO file, and then boot up. There is no DVD drive on the computer. I have never tried this although I have used Linux for many many years

It is not my own computer, it's an older lady who comes to our Linux Party on January 20 along with 8 others who would like to have installed Linux, and it will of course  be LL which will be installed on their computers
