Without wishing to be negative on the good work being carried out in development of LL, is there any need to upgrade at this time; assuming all is working well.
No -- it's not necessary to upgrade. As you already realized, most new additions included in LL 2.2 can be added to your current 2.0 pretty easily. New release is nice (especially for new users) because it incorporates all improvements/additions/etc. right off the bat.
In LL 2.2 xarchiver was replaced with file-roller. You can make that change to 2.0 by doing (in a terminal):
Code:
sudo apt-get purge xarchiver
sudo apt-get install file-roller
You can add Deja Dup (backups), Catfish (file search), and new Lite Cleaner tool with:
Code:
sudo apt-get install deja-dup catfish lite-cleaner
If you prefer, you can do all of above using Synaptic Package Manager instead of the terminal. (Menu -> System -> Install/Remove Software.)
If there are other new features listed by Jerry that you would like to add to LL 2.0, make a separate thread post asking about them rather than adding on to this thread. Don't want to veer too far off subject of original poster.
