Very slow boot after install

Thank you. It's strange: I just sent an email to my tech friend who sold me this computer. Then I did an attempt to make a partition image using clonezilla in Terminal (which didn't work I don't think) and was promted to reboot. And now it boots up fine, I can get into the BIOS, the whole thing takes only a few seconds.

Mystery.

Thanks and sorry for any inconvenience. But I had rebooted over 10 times this morning with these problems before posting. And OF COURSE, as soon as you post, the problem magically goes away!
